Terms and Conditions

Cozy Casita de Pets

By using our services, you (“Client”) agree to the following Terms and Conditions. This document serves as a binding agreement between you and Cozy Casita de Pets (“Provider”). Please read it carefully before booking our services.

1. Services Provided

Cozy Casita de Pets offers the following services, subject to availability and prior booking:

  • Dog boarding
  • Doggy daycare
  • Board and Train
  • Daily Training Add-on
  • Grooming Services

The Provider reserves the right to modify, expand, or discontinue any services at its sole discretion, with or without notice to the Client.

2. Client Responsibilities

To ensure the safety and well-being of all pets in our care, the Client agrees to:

  1. Vaccinations: Provide proof of current vaccinations, including rabies, bordetella, distemper, and parvovirus, before any and all services commence.
  2. Flea and Tick Prevention: Administer flea and tick prevention to their pet prior to drop-off.
  3. Medical Disclosure: Disclose any medical conditions, dietary restrictions, behavioral issues, or medications required for their pet in writing at the time of booking.
  4. Food and Supplies: Provide sufficient food, medication, and supplies (e.g., leashes, bedding) for the entire duration of the pet’s stay.
  5. Health Certification: By booking services, the owner certifies that their pet is in good health, free from contagious diseases, and has not experienced vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours. Pets showing signs of illness may be declined for services for the safety of all animals in our care.

Failure to comply with these requirements may result in refusal or termination of services without refund, and the Client may be liable for damages caused by noncompliance.

3. Behavior and Safety Policy

For the safety of all pets and staff, the following policies apply:

Acceptance of Aggressive or Disruptive Behavior

Behavior Disclosure: We may accept pets that exhibit aggressive, dangerous, or disruptive behavior, provided the Client discloses these behaviors in advance. The Provider reserves the right to assess whether the pet’s behavior is manageable in the daycare or boarding environment. Additional fees may apply for managing aggressive pets, depending on the level of care and attention required. For the safety of all animals, pets with aggressive or unsafe behaviors will not be allowed to participate in group play and may be given individualized care instead.

Behavioral Management

We will take reasonable steps to manage and modify the behavior of aggressive pets, including extra supervision, isolation from other pets, or individual playtime. The Client acknowledges that such pets may require additional care, and that fees for this additional service will apply.

Early Pickup for Safety

If a pet’s behavior poses a significant safety risk to itself, other pets, or staff, the Client will be contacted immediately and may be required to arrange for early pickup at their own expense. The Provider will make reasonable efforts to manage such behaviors but may not be equipped to provide ongoing care if the behavior is deemed too disruptive or dangerous.

Liability for Pre-Existing or Disclosed Behavioral Issues

The Provider is not liable for injuries, incidents, or damage resulting from pre-existing behavioral issues or conditions, whether disclosed or undisclosed by the Client. The Client remains fully responsible for any damages or injuries that occur as a result of their pet’s behavior.

4. Emergency Care Policy

In the event of a medical emergency:

  1. The Provider will make reasonable efforts to contact the Client and the emergency contact provided.
  2. If neither party can be reached promptly, the Provider is authorized to seek immediate veterinary care at the nearest available clinic.
  3. All veterinary expenses, transportation costs, and associated fees will be the sole responsibility of the Client.
  4. The Provider assumes no liability for the outcome of veterinary care, provided reasonable actions were taken in good faith.

5. Liability Waiver

The Client acknowledges and agrees that:

  1. The Provider will exercise reasonable care to ensure the safety, well-being, and comfort of all pets. However, the Provider is not liable for illness, injury, escape, or death resulting from circumstances beyond the provider’s control, including but not limited to pre-existing conditions, or unforeseeable incidents.
  2. The Client is financially responsible for any damages caused by their pet, including but not limited to property damage, injuries to staff or other animals, or additional cleaning/repair costs incurred.
  3. The Provider is not responsible for the loss, damage, or destruction of any personal items brought with the pet, including but not limited to toys, bedding, or leashes.

6. Payment and Cancellation Policy

  • Full Payment: Full payment is due within 48 hours of receiving the invoice. Bookings are not confirmed until payment is received in full.
  • If you need to cancel after full payment has been received, a 30% non-refundable deposit will be retained. The remaining balance will be refunded.
  • Recurring Bookings: For recurring services such as multiple consecutive days of daycare (e.g., 3 days in a row), full payment for all scheduled days is due in advance. If a client cancels a portion of a recurring booking, standard cancellation policies apply to the canceled dates.
  • Late Cancellations: Late cancellations within 24 hours may incur a fee at the Provider’s discretion.
  • Refunds for Early Pickups: Refunds for early pickups or unused services may be issued on a case-by-case basis, at the sole discretion of the Provider, provided that the refund request is deemed reasonable and applicable.
  • Failure to Extend and Nonpayment While Pet is in Care: If a pet is already in the Provider’s care and the Client fails to submit payment for an extension of services by the agreed-upon deadline, the Provider will make reasonable attempts to contact the Client and any listed emergency contacts. If the Client fails to respond or make payment within 48 hours of the originally scheduled pickup time, the Provider reserves the right to consider the pet abandoned. In such cases, the Provider may, at its discretion, surrender the pet to a local animal shelter, rescue organization, or another appropriate authority to ensure the pet’s continued safety and care. The Client will remain fully responsible for all unpaid service fees, additional boarding fees, late fees, and any costs associated with the surrender or transfer of the pet.
  • Any boarding, daycare, or training service booked within 48 hours of the requested service date will incur a $10 rush-booking fee. This fee covers the extra time and preparation required for last-minute scheduling and ensures your pet’s stay is properly planned. The fee will be added to the Client’s invoice and must be paid prior to drop-off.
  • Cozy Casita de Pets does not charge additional holiday fees. All rates remain the same year-round, including major holidays. However, availability during holidays is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Cozy Casita de Pets may offer payment plans in certain situations, approved at the Provider’s discretion. If a payment plan is granted, the Client must pay the agreed-upon deposit at booking, and all remaining scheduled payments must be paid on time. Failure to follow the payment plan schedule may result in cancellation of services, late fees, or denial of future payment plan requests.

7. Drop-Off and Pickup Policy

  1. Scheduled Pickup and Drop-Off Times: The Client and Provider will agree upon specific drop-off and pickup times at the time of booking. It is the Client’s responsibility to adhere to these times to ensure proper care for the pet and to avoid additional charges.
  2. Late Pickup Fees: If the Client is late for pickup beyond the scheduled time, a $15 per hour late fee will apply for each hour or part of an hour that the Client is delayed.
  3. Unresponsive Clients / Delayed Pickup: If the Client is unresponsive or delayed in picking up their pet beyond one hour of the scheduled pickup time, without prior communication, the following actions may be taken:
    • Additional Charges: A $15 per hour late fee will apply for each additional hour or part of an hour, starting one hour after the scheduled pickup time.
    • Alternative Care Arrangements: If the Client cannot be reached or fails to make alternative arrangements, the Provider reserves the right to arrange for alternative care for the pet at the Client’s expense.
    • Emergency Contact: The Provider will attempt to contact the emergency contact provided at the time of booking. If both the Client and emergency contact are unreachable, the Provider may take necessary actions to ensure the pet’s safety, including veterinary care or other accommodations.
    • Extended Boarding: If the Client fails to pick up their pet on time and has not made prior arrangements, the pet may be boarded for an extended period at the Client’s expense. Extended boarding will be charged at the regular boarding or daycare rate, in addition to any late pickup fees.
    • Failure to Retrieve Pet: If the Client fails to pick up their pet within 24 hours after the scheduled pickup time without communication, the pet may be considered abandoned. The Provider reserves the right to surrender the pet to a local animal shelter, rescue organization, or another appropriate authority. Any associated fees will be the responsibility of the Client.

8. Training and Board & Train Policy

Training Methods:
At Cozy Casita de Pets, I prioritize humane, effective, and science-based training methods tailored to each individual dog. While I primarily utilize positive reinforcement to encourage desired behaviors and build confidence, I may also incorporate additional communication tools such as slip leads, prong collars, or e-collars when appropriate. These tools are used thoughtfully, with your dog’s safety and well-being as the highest priority, to provide clear guidance and enhance learning.

Individual Progress and Responsibility:
Every dog learns at a different pace. Progress during training and Board & Train programs may vary depending on your dog’s temperament, previous experiences, and consistency at home. While I provide expert care and guidance during the program, long-term success depends on continued follow-through and reinforcement at home. Cozy Casita de Pets cannot guarantee outcomes or be held responsible for a pet’s behavior once the program is complete and your dog is outside of my care.

Summary and Recommendations:
At the end of each training program, you will receive a detailed summary of your dog’s progress, activities, and personalized recommendations. For Board & Train programs, this includes step-by-step guidance to help you maintain and build upon the skills your dog has learned. Follow-up sessions may be scheduled as needed to provide continued support.

Owner Involvement:
I believe that owner participation is essential to lasting results. For both Training and Board & Train programs, you are encouraged to remain actively involved in reinforcing the techniques introduced. This ensures consistency and helps strengthen the bond between you and your dog.

9. Photo and Media Release

The Client consents to the Provider taking photographs or videos of their pet for social media, marketing, or promotional purposes:

  1. If the Client does not wish for their pet’s images to be used, they must notify the Provider in writing or text before the start of services.
  2. No financial compensation will be provided for the use of pet images.

10. Dispute Resolution

  1. Any disputes arising under these Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of the State of Texas.
  2. The Client and the Provider agree to attempt resolution through mediation before pursuing any legal remedies.
  3. Any legal action shall be brought exclusively in the courts of Bexar County, Texas.

11. Amendments to Terms and Conditions

The Provider reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Updated Terms will be communicated to the Client as necessary. Continued use of services after such updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Home Access & Privacy Policy

To ensure the safety, security, and comfort of all pets in my care, Cozy Casita de Pets does not permit clients, visitors, or third parties inside the home at any time. This policy helps maintain a calm, controlled environment for your furry friends and ensures compliance with safety, insurance, and hygiene standards.

All drop-offs, pickups, and client communications will take place outside my home or at the designated entry area.
Thank you for respecting this boundary and helping keep the environment consistent and stress-free for the pets.

13. Grooming Services Waiver
By booking grooming services with Cozy Casita de Pets, the Client acknowledges and agrees to the following:

In the event that a pet becomes overly stressed or poses a safety risk, the Provider reserves the right to stop grooming services at any time, and the Client may still be responsible for partial or full payment.

Grooming, even basic services such as bathing, brushing, and nail trimming, may involve certain risks including but not limited to minor cuts, skin irritation, or stress, especially for pets with pre-existing conditions or sensitivities.

The Client confirms that their pet is in suitable health for grooming services and has disclosed any medical conditions, injuries, or behavioral concerns that may affect the grooming process.

Cozy Casita de Pets will take all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety and comfort of the pet; however, the Provider is not liable for injuries or complications that may arise due to pre-existing conditions, matting, sensitive skin, or the pet’s behavior.
